IRONMAN BIKE TRANSPORT PROGRAM(Printable PDF of this information >>) If you are planning to fly into Penticton, we have 2 special ground transport programs in place to move your bike to and from Vancouver. We strongly recommend that you take advantage of this program. Bike Transport August 24th-27th Starting Mon. night August 24th and nightly until Thurs. Aug. 27th all bikes traveling through Vancouver International Airport will be collected during the day and trucked to Penticton overnight. Truck arrival time at the Penticton airport is usually between 5 – 6 am the next morning. Air Canada Jazz staff in Penticton sort the bicycles and deliver to your hotel/motel or accommodations that morning free of charge. Depending on your location, the volume of bicycles and individual hotel/motel office hours, this process is normally completed by 11 am. What you can do to Assist in the Process Make sure the final destination tag reads Penticton YYF. Athletes traveling from the USA or International destinations MUST STILL PHYSICALLY CLAIM YOUR BIKE at your first Canadian port for customs clearance. If you do not, it will be held back and this will delay you receiving it. Upon your arrival in Penticton, there will be a desk set up at the arrivals area to take your Name, Bag Tag number and your address for delivery. Please have this information available to speed up the process. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Air Canada Jazz in Penticton at 250-493-2900 (Monday – Friday, ask for Brent). Post Race Process On Monday August 31, Air Canada Jazz passengers departing from Penticton between August 31 and September 4 can once again take advantage of our annual FREE OUTBOUND trucking program. Air Canada Jazz will have a tractor trailer and check in table set up at the Start/Finish area (Lakeside Resort Hotel) on Monday August 31 between 10am and 4 pm. Your bike must be boxed; bagged or crated otherwise we will not be able to accept it. We will require your complete outbound ticket and information to your FINAL DESTINATION. Proper Identification (Passport for USA and Intl passengers.), minimum Drivers License and/or Birth Certificate for Canadian travelers. All bikes will be transported to Vancouver International Airport on MONDAY ONLY. Proper information from you on Monday will be critical in order for us to pre arrange US Customs clearance. YOU WILL NOT have to claim your bike in Vancouver if you bring your bike to us on the MONDAY (regardless of your travel day). However, if you are planning to spend extra days in Vancouver your bicycle will ONLY be tagged to Vancouver and you will have to claim it there. Only bikes traveling through Vancouver on the same day as your flight from Penticton will be tagged to their final destination. This FREE OUTBOUND service is ONLY available on Monday August 27 and ONLY for passengers scheduled to travel from Penticton on Air Canada Jazz. (Due to volume we cannot accept Kelowna ticketed passenger’s bicycles for the outbound program.) Note – If you have already pre-paid for the airline bicycle fee for your outbound travel, Air Canada Jazz will not process refund applications if you choose to take advantage of this service.
